BJP Leader Says Cows Also Drinking From Here Amid Yamuna Frothing

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Virendra Sachdeva, and Member of Parliament (MP), Manoj Tiwari visited Yamuna river in the national capital on Monday to assess the extent of pollution in the river. While standing on the banks of the Yamuna at Kalindi Kunj, Sachdeva and Tiwari took aim at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the elevated levels of contaminants in the river.

Sachdeva squarely criticised Kejriwal, asserting that the Chief Minister was responsible for the dire state of the Yamuna, and he questioned how devotees would be able to take holy dips in the river during the upcoming Chhath Puja.

He stated, "Arvind Kejriwal has essentially devastated the Yamuna... the water's condition is so dire that contact with it could result in illness... What will happen to those who partake in a holy dip during Chhath Puja? Arvind Kejriwal should face criminal charges."

Manoj Tiwari, the Lok Sabha MP from North East Delhi, called on the Supreme Court to take notice of the matter, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Tiwari expressed, "Today, on October 16, 2023, I visited the Kalindi Kunj banks of the Yamuna river with Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva to inspect the river. Arvind Kejriwal is poisoning Delhi. The honorable Supreme Court should take cognizance."

He further highlighted the critical impact of the pollution, pointing out that cows also drink water from the Yamuna, which could affect both the cows and the people who consume their milk. Tiwari underscored the adverse impact on public health, evident in Delhi's low life expectancy.

Tiwari posted a video in which he and Sachdeva were seen on a boat, assessing the pollution levels in the frothy Yamuna.

Virendra Sachdeva redirected the focus of the Yamuna river pollution issue to the well-being of people from Purvanchal, a region where the Chhath Puja festival is widely celebrated and who live in Delhi. He lamented the sorry state of Mother Yamuna and its implications for the upcoming Chhath festival.
