Beni Prasad Verma alleges Chavan, Digvijay of conspiring against Rahul

Beni Prasad hits out at Chavan, Digvijay
New Delhi, Sept 9: Looks like the infighting within the Congress has grown even worse with Congress leader Beni Prasad Verma making revelations that Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh tried to weaken the party by criticising Rahul Gandhi.

In an interview to TOI (read here),Verma said that both Chavan and Singh were conspiring against Gandhi. He said that Chavan's statement about Rahul should have been a minister during the UPA regime and Singh's statement that Rahul must be more more visible and vocal, point out to a conspiracy.

"Presence of Rahul Gandhi in the Manmohan Singh government would have undermined the authority of the then PM. So Rahul was right in deciding to work for the party," Verma said.

He added and said that it was ridiculous that Rahul was blamed whenever the party lost. Making an indirect attack on Digvijay Singh, Verma had said that some senior leaders had marred the party's chances of winning the 2012 UP Assembly elections by raking the Batla House encounter.

He questioned who no action was taken against regional leaders who were failing repeatedly.
