Arvind Kejriwal Files Delhi Assembly Nomination Today: AAP's Strong Push For New Delhi Constituency

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi, is all set to file his nomination for the Delhi Assembly elections from the New Delhi constituency today.

Kejriwal's move comes at a time when the capital is witnessing an intense political contest ahead of the elections scheduled for February 5, 2025.

In a show of confidence, Kejriwal claimed that many "mothers and sisters" from across Delhi would accompany him to the election office to bless him. Before heading to submit his nomination papers, Kejriwal also plans to seek divine blessings by visiting the Valmiki and Hanuman temples.

Kejriwal Visits Hanuman Temple In Connaught Place

In a heartfelt tweet, Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP national convenor, shared that before filing his nomination for the Delhi Assembly elections, he visited the Valmiki and ancient Hanuman temples. He expressed his reverence by bowing at the feet of Lord Ji, seeking blessings for the prosperity, peace, and happiness of Delhi.

Kejriwal vowed to continue his mission of serving the people of Delhi, promising to carry forward the politics of honesty and service, guided by divine blessings.

The Political Battle in New Delhi

Kejriwal's nomination sets the stage for a high-stakes contest in New Delhi, where he will face off against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Parvesh Verma and Congress' Sandeep Dikshit. Both rivals have been vocal in their criticisms of the Delhi government's governance and Kejriwal's leadership. As the stakes rise, accusations of corruption and mismanagement are at the forefront of the political campaign.

Legal Woes Add Fuel to the Fire

Kejriwal's nomination comes at a time when his political career faces a legal challenge. The Union Home Ministry has granted permission to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the excise policy. The case alleges that Kejriwal and members of his government took bribes from the 'South Group,' a cartel accused of controlling liquor distribution in the city.

While Kejriwal has denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated, his legal troubles are unlikely to subside anytime soon. The AAP has accused the BJP of using central agencies to target political rivals in a bid to influence the upcoming election.

The Sheesh Mahal Controversy

In addition to the excise policy case, Kejriwal is also facing criticism over the alleged lavish spending on his official residence, dubbed the Sheesh Mahal, during his tenure as Chief Minister. The opposition parties, including the BJP, have used this issue to target Kejriwal, accusing him of hypocrisy and corruption while his government claims to promote transparency and accountability.

Election Day and Counting Schedule

The Delhi Assembly election is slated for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. With the political landscape in Delhi charged with accusations, Kejriwal's AAP, BJP, and Congress are locked in a fierce triangular contest. As the campaigning intensifies, voters can expect to see an election shaped by legal battles, corruption allegations, and debates over governance.
