Anna Hazare gives Kiran Bedi his blessings to contest elections

New Delhi, Jan 11: A day after former IPS officer Kiran Bedi endorsed BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, social activist Anna Hazare has backed Bedi and said that he was okay if she wanted to contest elections.

According to a report in Economic Times [read here] Anna Hazare has given his blessings to Kiran Bedi if she wanted to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Bedi is said to have spoken to Hazare about her wanting to contest the elections.

Hazare's secretary said that some BJP leaders were in talks with Hazare seeking his support for the party.

"Anna says that he will not openly support any party or campaign for anybody but if the team members whom Arvind has left out want to participate in the elections they are free to do that. Anna has no problem if Bedi contests the elections," Hazare's secretary said.

Meanwhile Bedi has brushed aside any political aspirations saying that she was not keen on contesting elections and that she was an 'independent voice.'
