Amidst speculations Priyanka Gandhi attends Congress meet

Priyanka Gandhi attends Congress meet
New Delhi, Jan 7: Congress President Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday called a high level meet of Congress party leaders, a move said to be ahead of major a revamp within the party.

The party meeting was held in Rahul Gandhi's residence but Rahul himself was not present for the meeting.

Congress leaders later suggested that Priyanka would not contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. There were many speculations that after the recent debacle in the Assembly elections, the Congress will most likely pitch Priyanka also in the Lok Sabha elections but party members said that she would not contest the elections.

Instead she would help and look after the constituencies of her mother, Sonia and brother Rahul Gandhi.

The party was attended by Sonia's political secretary Ahmed Patel, Union Minister Jairam Ramesh and senior leader Janardhan Dwiwedi.

Congress is expected to name its prime ministerial candidate on January 17.
