After Fatal Biker Accident, Fresh Open Drain Mishap Reported in Rohini

Within a week, Delhi reports two similar accidents, both linked to uncovered civic works. Four days after a biker died in Janakpuri, another youth reportedly fell into an open drain near Rohini Sector 32, close to Mahashakti Kali Temple, triggering a major rescue effort.

Rescue teams and Delhi Police start searching the Rohini drain stretch soon after the alert. Officials say the operation focuses on tracing one missing person believed to have fallen into the open drain near the temple area, with divers and support staff deployed.

Delhi drain accident: Rescue operation details and police response

The incident is reported from the Begumpur police station limits, according to initial inputs shared with agencies. An official states the distress call reaches authorities around 7.45 pm, following which emergency and rescue personnel rush to the location and begin coordinated search efforts along the drain.

The official, quoted by PTI, confirms that teams remain stationed at the accident spot. "Teams are at the site and rescue efforts are in progress," the official said. ANI also reports that the operation continues through the evening, as crews scan the open drain section and nearby points.

Delhi drain accident: Earlier Janakpuri death and investigation

On Friday last week, police say a 25-year-old private bank employee dies in a separate mishap. The rider allegedly falls into a pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board on Joginder Singh Marg in west Delhi's Janakpuri while travelling on a motorcycle late Thursday night.

Officers later find the deceased person's body and motorcycle inside the 20-foot-deep excavation, according to the statement. The pit lies at an under-construction Delhi Jal Board pipeline site on Professor Joginder Singh Marg in Janakpuri. Police register a case under relevant provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
