AAP terms Rail Budget as 'missed opportunity'

, July 8: The Rail Budget presented by Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda today didn't please everyone and definitely did not please the Aam Aadmi Party (

) who termed the rail budget as ‘missed opportunity.'

AAP said (read more) that the Narendra Modi government could have made the most of this opportunity and could have spelt out its long term vision of the railways.

AAP applauded Gowda's honest confession that there were a lot of pending projects but said that the minister failed to lay out plans how the government would complete these pending projects.

Facilities should be provided to all categories of passengers, but the focus on those who can spend more for facilities does not set a healthy trend, AAP said. AAP said that it saw a regional imbalance in announcement of new train services.

A government cannot ignore the requirements of one region appease the other.
