Delhi Polls 2025: AAP Promises Free Medical Treatment For Senior Citizens Ahead Of Elections

As the countdown for the announcement of Delhi Assembly elections have started, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced free treatment for senior citizens at all government and private hospitals.

AAP's Big Announcement For Senior Citizens

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal announced that individuals above the age of 60 would be eligible for the scheme, which would be implemented if his party retains power in the national capital. "It is now our duty to take care of you. You have worked hard to take the country forward," said the former Delhi Chief Minister, addressing senior citizens directly.

As part of the initiative, there will be no upper limit on treatment costs. "Registration for the scheme will begin in a day or two. AAP workers will visit homes for registration and issue a card. Keep it safe. Once we come back to power, this policy will be rolled out," Kejriwal assured.

Delhi Elections 2025

The party has already released its candidate list for all 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. Kejriwal will contest from his New Delhi constituency, while current Chief Minister Atishi is set to defend her Kalkaji seat.

EC Gearing Up

Meanwhile, preparations for the elections are in full swing. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled a preparatory meeting this week, after which the dates for the polls are expected to be announced. The elections are anticipated to take place in February, with campaigns intensifying across the capital.

Will BJP Bounce Back In This 2025 Delhi Polls?

The BJP, aiming to end its 26-year-long drought in Delhi Assembly elections, has launched a massive outreach initiative targeting the city's slum areas, traditionally seen as AAP strongholds. According to Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, the party received over 2,000 applications for tickets to contest across the 70 constituencies.

AAP, which swept the last two Assembly elections with 67 seats in 2015 and 62 seats in 2020, faces stiff competition as the BJP ramps up efforts to challenge the ruling party's dominance in the capital.
