Viral Video Shows Man Carrying Wife’s Dead Body on Bike After Hit-and-Run in Nagpur

A disturbing video has gone viral on social media, showing a man riding his motorcycle with the lifeless body of his wife tied to the pillion seat after a fatal hit-and-run on the Nagpur-Jabalpur National Highway.

The man, identified as 35-year-old Amit Yadav from Lonara in Nagpur, was travelling with his wife Gyarsi to their native village in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, on Raksha Bandhan when tragedy struck. Near Morphata, a speeding truck collided with their two-wheeler, throwing both onto the road. The truck allegedly ran over Gyarsi before fleeing the scene.

The viral clip shows Amit riding with his wife's body secured to the bike, an image that has sparked shock and outrage online. According to police, Amit had pleaded for help from passing vehicles, but no one stopped to assist him, forcing him to attempt to transport her body home on his own.

A police patrol eventually intercepted him and took the body to Indira Gandhi Medical College in Nagpur for post-mortem. Officials have registered a case of accidental death and are working to trace the truck driver.

Authorities confirmed the video was recorded by police personnel before they stopped Amit. Social media users have condemned both the lack of public assistance and the grim reality faced by accident victims on Indian roads.

The couple had been residing in Lonara but hailed from Seoni, Madhya Pradesh. The investigation is ongoing.
