Senior Shiv Sena woman activist murdered in Nagpur

women's wing secretary Arati Borkar was

to death on Friday night while she was on way to a restaurant along with her husband Anil. According to the police, the couple was attacked by a group of 4-5 armed men in the busy Lalganj area. Borkar died on the spot while her husband was seriously injured.

The incident occurred around 9.30 pm.

One of the murderers, was however caught by the passers-by and was handed over the Panchpaoli Police. The injured husband was taken to a local government hospital where his condition was said to be serious. Tension prevailed in the area following the murder. Hundreds of Sena activists gathered in the area and shouted slogans against the police and demanded immediate arrest of all the culprits.

Forty-two-year-old Borkar was known to be an aggressive leader who reportedly began a campaign against hoardings and black-marketing by the local fair-price shop owners.
