Western Railway Announces 5-Hour Maintenance Block Between Borivali And Goregaon — Check Affected Routs

The Western Railway (WR) has announced a planned five-hour Jumbo Block on Sunday, August 17, 2025, to carry out essential maintenance work between Borivali and Goregaon stations. The block will be in place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and will affect both UP and Down fast line services.

According to WR's Chief Public Relations Officer, Vineet Abhishek, the maintenance work will involve repairs and upkeep of railway tracks, inspection and servicing of signalling systems, and work on overhead equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of train services.

During the block period, all fast trains running between Goregaon and Borivali will be diverted to operate on the slow lines. This operational change will lead to adjustments in the suburban train schedules. Some UP and Down suburban services will be cancelled for the duration of the block, while certain Andheri-Borivali services on the harbour line will be shortened to terminate at Goregaon instead of their usual destinations.

Passengers have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and to check the updated train schedules to avoid inconvenience. Detailed information on train cancellations, diversions, and curtailed services will be available with the Station Masters at the affected stations.

The Western Railway conducts such Jumbo Blocks periodically to carry out large-scale infrastructure maintenance without disrupting weekday peak-hour commuter traffic. While these blocks may cause temporary inconvenience, they are considered crucial for the long-term safety, reliability, and efficiency of the suburban railway network, which is one of the busiest in the world.
