Maharashtra: Villagers kill woman for being 'possessed by evil spirit'
Palghar, Aug 20: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly killed by three villagers who believed that she was 'possessed by an evil spirit', police said on Thursday.
The family of Savita Naresh Golim, a resident of Nine village near Manor town in the district, and the accused had a dispute over some ancestral farm land in the village.

The accused persons, whose names have not been disclosed by police, also believed that the woman was possessed by an evil spirit, Manor police station sub-inspector R A Bore said.
The three men came to her house yesterday afternoon and attacked her with a wooden log, killing her on the spot, Bore said.
The trio then dumped her body in a cow dung pit near the house, he said.
Police have booked the trio under IPC sections 302 (murder), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), he said.
A hunt was on to nab the assailants, he said adding that further investigation was on.
