Video: Mumbai building collapse

Six persons were killed while many others were injured after a seven-storey building caved in in Vakola area of Mumbai. Sources in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said the building was empty but the deaths were caused in the adjoining slum after it collapsed.

The building, located in Yashwant Nagar near Grand Hyatt Hotel, came down around noon on a chawl, an official in the BMC disaster management cell said.
Fire engines were sent to the spot and rescue operation was underway till the latest reports came in.
Many were still trapped under the debris.
Building collapse has been a major concern for the civic officials in Mumbai and many other places in Maharashtra. In April last year, over 70 people were killed after a building collapsed in Thane.
