Video: Leopard runs amock in Maharashtra villages, tamed after 4 hours

Chandrapur (Maharashtra), April 21: A leopard entered two villages in Ballarpur in Chandrapur district in Maharashtra early on Monday morning, pushing the panic button. Forest department officials had a harrowing time to rein in the animal and it was tamed with the help of tranquilisers after it entered the toilet in a house.

One villager was injured after being attacked by the leopard. The forest officials would release the leopard in the wild.

Animal-human conflicts have become a common occurrence in Maharashtra

Leopards' intrusion in human settlements is a common occurrence in Maharashtra and the authorities are struggling to figure out ways to avoid the man-animal conflict.

The villages where the leopard entered are not far from the Tadoba National Park.

In a similar incident on Sunday, another leopard entered a village and died after jumping into a well.

On April 17, a leopard injured a man in a village in Karad in Maharashtra.
