Thane Metro Alert: Ghodbunder Road Closed To Heavy Vehicles Till July 14—Check Alternate Routes
As work on Mumbai Metro Line 4 gains momentum in Thane, residents and commuters are advised to brace for night-time closures on the Thane-Ghodbunder main road. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is rapidly progressing with beam installation near the Kasarvadavali area, prompting the closure of Ghodbunder Road for heavy vehicles between 11 PM and 4 AM daily-from June 22 to July 14.
The beam-lifting activity will take place along the stretch between Naglabunder Signal and Indian Oil Pump. While light vehicles will be redirected during these hours, essential service vehicles such as ambulances, police, fire brigades, and those using the green corridor will remain unaffected by these restrictions.

Due to the road's critical role in managing Thane's traffic flow, the closure is expected to increase congestion, especially during peak travel times. To minimize disruption, commuters are advised to explore alternate routes during the affected hours.
Alternate Traffic Routes Announced:
Heavy vehicles moving toward the Thane-Ghodbunder stretch, particularly near Gaimukh Metro Station, will be diverted around pillar number 85. These vehicles must take a left turn at pillar number 102 and proceed towards Indian Oil Pump.
Light vehicles will also be rerouted from pillar number 85, traveling via Seva to rejoin the main road near the Indian Oil Pump.
Traffic approaching Thane from the Naglabunder Signal, close to Asha Wine Shop, will be halted and redirected via Seva to Lodha Splendra. This arrangement is aimed at facilitating smoother vehicle movement during the ongoing metro construction phase.
The MMRDA continues to prioritize timely completion of Metro Line 4, and urges motorists to follow the updated traffic advisories, remain alert to signage, and cooperate with traffic personnel stationed along the affected routes.
