Shivaji Maharaj Railway Tour: Indian Railways Updates Starting Point, Duration, And Fare; Booking Dates Inside

Barely ten days after the announcement of a special 10-day railway tourism package to commemorate Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Indian Railways is considering changes in the departure station and duration of the tour. According to a Hindustan Times (HT) report, the tour is now expected to start from Mumbai, instead of Delhi, and its duration will likely be shortened to four days.

Itinerary And Destinations

The official itinerary, which includes key historical sites associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is expected to remain the same. The route will still cover significant destinations such as Raigad Fort, Shivneri Fort, Bhimashankar Temple, Shirdi, Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ellora Caves, and Grishneshwar Temple. These sites are closely linked to the legacy of the legendary Maratha king and offer a rich historical experience for visitors.

Changes In Departure And Cost Reduction

According to a railway official, the decision to start the tour from Mumbai is still under discussion and will be confirmed once final approvals are in place. Additionally, the tariffs for the tour are likely to be reduced by 15-20 per cent, bringing the prices down from the previously proposed range of Rs 19,000-47,000.

Special Train To Operate The Tour

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Glorious Maratha Tour, organised by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), will be operated on a special train. This train will be equipped with AC II, AC III, and non-AC sleeper coaches to cater to different types of passengers.

Tour Launch And Booking Details

The tour is set to begin on July 16, with bookings expected to open soon. The change in the tour's details has raised some curiosity among travel enthusiasts, especially with the reduction in duration and the shift in departure city. The special package is designed to give visitors a chance to explore the forts, temples, and heritage sites that are integral to the history of the Maratha Empire.
