Sharad Pawar Hospitalised Days After Ajit Pawar's Death, Doctors Assess Condition

Veteran politician and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) chief Sharad Pawar was admitted to a private hospital in Pune on Monday after his health showed signs of deterioration. The 85-year-old leader was shifted from his Baramati residence to Ruby Hall Clinic as a precautionary measure following complaints of breathing discomfort.

Pawar was accompanied by his wife Pratibha Pawar and daughter Supriya Sule during the transfer. Sources said he had been experiencing symptoms such as cough, cold, and shortness of breath, prompting doctors to recommend hospitalisation for closer monitoring.

Confirming the development, Ruby Hall Clinic's chief cardiologist and managing trustee Dr Parvez Grant said Pawar would undergo a detailed medical evaluation upon arrival. "A team of doctors will assess him and then decide the further line of treatment," he said, adding that Pawar's condition was being watched carefully.

No official medical bulletin has been released yet, and hospital authorities have refrained from sharing details beyond confirming that he is under observation.

The hospitalisation comes at a deeply emotional moment for the Pawar family, following the recent death of Sharad Pawar's nephew Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. The tragedy has cast a shadow over the family, even as political leaders and supporters continue to rally around the senior statesman.

Sharad Pawar, one of the most influential figures in Indian politics, has faced serious health challenges in the past. A survivor of oral cancer diagnosed in the late 1990s, he underwent multiple surgeries in India and abroad but went on to remain actively involved in public life for decades.

Leaders across party lines have expressed concern over Pawar's health and wished him a speedy recovery. Doctors are expected to issue an update once preliminary assessments are complete.
