Are Schools Closed in Mumbai Tomorrow?
Students and parents are eagerly awaiting an official announcement regarding school closures in Mumbai due to heavy rains. While no formal decision has been made yet, many students are staying home due to severe waterlogging and traffic congestion.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted moderate to intense rain accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph in isolated areas of Mumbai today. Given these conditions, it is anticipated that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) may announce the closure of schools and colleges. Parents and students are advised to stay updated by checking with school authorities.

A high tide is expected at 2:51 PM today, with Mumbai city and its suburbs likely to experience moderate to heavy rains across various areas. Due to these adverse weather conditions, schools and colleges in several regions are expected to remain closed.
In response to the heavy rains battering Maharashtra, the Lonavala Municipal Administration has declared a holiday for all schools in the district. Reports indicate that schools in Lonavala will be closed on July 25 and July 26 due to the ongoing rain.
Mumbai School Closed Tomorrow?
Schools in Mumbai will remain closed tomorrow, July 26, 2024 due to the continuous heavy rains and waterlogging affecting several areas. Students and parents are advised to take note of this. Residents are advised to venture out only if required.
IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall
Mumbai is facing torrential rains today, with the IMD predicting moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming hours. As a result, Vihar Lake is overflowing, the Andheri subway is closed, and multiple areas are experiencing significant waterlogging.
Maharashtra School Closed on July 26:
Since this morning, Pune, Thane, Mumbai and Raigad regions in Maharashtra have been experiencing heavy to extreme rainfall. The weather agency has issued a red alert due to the anticipated severe weather conditions, following earlier warnings. To address the potential challenges students might face in commuting during such weather, schools across Maharashtra will remain closed on July 26, 2024. This measure prioritizes student safety, with school administrations instructed to inform all students and parents about the closure.
The red alert from the IMD covers Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and the surrounding Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts, with predictions of heavy to very heavy rainfall throughout the day. The alert is in effect until 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Rivers in the Raigad district are currently overflowing, and local authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any adverse effects on students.
Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for the Ratnagiri district in the Konkan region, warning of heavy to very heavy rain, while a yellow alert has been issued for Sindhudurg district for Thursday.
