School Buses Cancelled In Maharashtra On November 19-20, Here's Why
Students in Maharashtra will experience disruptions as school bus services will be halted for two days, including on polling day, November 20.
This action is in response to directives from the Regional Transport Offices (RTO), which have requisitioned school and tourist buses for election-related responsibilities. The School Bus Owners Association of Maharashtra (SBOA) confirmed that buses will remain off the roads on November 19 and 20, as these vehicles are being utilised for election transportation needs across Mumbai and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, several schools have been designated as polling stations, which complicates the situation further. Many teachers have been assigned election booth duties, leading to a shortage of available staff for regular classes. As a result, schools may experience disruptions to their schedules.
The SBOA has appealed to parents, students, and the public for understanding, emphasizing that the temporary disruption is necessary for ensuring smooth election operations. They have requested cooperation during this period.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. In the 2019 elections, the BJP secured 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44.
