Pune Power Cut During 42°C Heatwave? Sinhagad Road Residents Face 6-Hour Blackout

Residents across Sinhagad Road in Pune are bracing for a six-hour power shutdown on 14 May 2026, even as the city struggles with a heatwave and temperatures near 42 degrees Celsius. Supply will be cut from 7 am to 1 pm. Many households fear severe daytime discomfort.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited has said the outage is needed for repair and maintenance work. The shutdown is linked to tasks being carried out by Mahatransco at several substations. Citizens, however, are upset that such long work is planned during intense summer conditions.

Heatwave and power shutdown on Sinhagad Road raise concerns

Residents from the Damadi area, the Agam Mandir vicinity and Sai Mystic View will be affected. Housing schemes including KB Developers, Amit Blossomfield Society, Athensia Royal Society and Takshashila Society are also on the list. Ambegaon, Jambhulwadi Road, Dallenagar, the Sunbright School area, Lipane Vasti and the Jambhulwadi Lake area are expected to face the blackout.

Nanded City Township is among the largest locations listed for the shutdown on Sinhagad Road. Other parts such as Warje Tower Works, the Rathi Behre area, Bhujbal Township, Indrayani Colony and Happy Colony will also lose supply. Kharade Patil Society, Anandnagar, the RMD College and School area, Shriram Society and Vasudha Ishwara are additionally mentioned.

Neighbourhoods listed under Sinhagad Road power shutdown

Further along Sinhagad Road, power will remain off in Uttamnagar, Dangat Patil Nagar and Shinde Park. Kondhave Dhawade, Ramnagar, Ganpati Matha, Ahire village, Deshmukhwadi and Shivane are part of the same shutdown block. Many housing societies here rely on electric water pumps during morning hours.

Khadakwasla village, Kirkatwadi and Kolewadi are also expected to experience the six-hour cut. Dhayari village, JP Nagar, Shivane village, Dhonde Corner and the Arachti area have been listed as well. Residents in these localities say backup options are limited and often expensive.

Many citizens argue that the six-hour shutdown on Sinhagad Road will be especially hard during the afternoon heat. People say most homes depend on fans, coolers, air conditioners and water pumps during this period. Several residents have questioned why such extensive maintenance is scheduled during severe summer temperatures.
