Prisoners clash in Nashik jail, 1 dead

, October 16: One was killed after a prisoner attacked two other inmates inside the central

here in the wee hours on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Vishal Balasaheb Choudhari, 28. The other inmate, Vijay Ippar, 22, was seriously injured in the scuffle and was admitted to a local hospital.

The attacker, Sopan Pagare, 26, attacked the two with a wooden stick in the midnight while they were sleeping in their barrack over a petty quarrel that they had before going to sleep, sources in the jail said.

Both the inmates were taken to Nashik civil hospital where Vishal died on Wednesday morning. Nashik Road police has registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC against Pagare.

The three were booked in murder cases at different police stations and were kept in the jail following their judicial custody. The trial of Vishal was to begin from October 24 at Nashik court, the police said.
