Exit Poll 2024: Lokshahi Marathi-Rudra Survey Predicts Hung Assembly In Maharashtra

Maharashtra witnessed a high-stakes single-phase election on Wednesday for its 288-member assembly, where 145 seats are needed to secure a majority.

The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP contesting 149 seats, Shiv Sena fielding 81, and Ajit Pawar's NCP vying for 59 constituencies, is determined to retain power.

On the other side, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) opposition, consisting of Congress contesting 101 seats, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) fielding 95, and Sharad Pawar's NCP with 86 candidates, is aiming for a strong comeback. Smaller parties like the BSP and AIMIM have also entered the fray, contesting 237 and 17 seats, respectively.

This election is seen as a crucial battle for Maharashtra's political heavyweights, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his predecessor Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, and veteran leader Sharad Pawar, as they seek to solidify their influence.

The BJP-led Mahayuti is banking on its welfare initiatives like the "Majhi Ladki Bahin" scheme for women to bolster its position, while the opposition alliance is attempting to regain ground with promises of governance and stability. The results of this fiercely contested election will decide the future trajectory of the state's political landscape.

As per the Lokshahi Marathi-Rudra exit poll, the Mahayuti-led by the BJP is predicted to win 128-142 seats. It means the ruling party is expected to fall short of a majority.

Whereas the Opposition Mahavikas Aghadi is predicted to get 125-140 seats. Independent and other parties are expected to get 18-23 seats. It means the state might witness a hung assembly if the number holds true.
