No Dispute Over CM Post: Devendra Fadnavis As Mahayuti Wins Maharashtra Polls
The Mahayuti alliance's triumph in the Assembly elections has set the stage for a significant decision regarding Maharashtra's leadership. BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the choice of the next chief minister will be made collectively by the alliance members, ensuring mutual agreement among them.
Fadnavis, addressing a press conference, assured that there would be no contention over the chief ministerial candidate. He stated, "There will be no dispute on the chief minister's face. It was decided from day one that after the elections, the leaders of the three ally parties (the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP) will sit together and decide on this, which will be acceptable to everyone."

Victory of Unity
Reflecting on Mahayuti's success in the assembly polls, Fadnavis expressed gratitude towards Maharashtra's citizens for their overwhelming support. He remarked, "The people of Maharashtra have given us an unprecedented victory. This shows that people are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In line with the slogan he gave 'Ek hain toh safe hain', people from all sections and communities voted for us unitedly... This is the victory of Mahayuti, CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Ramdas Athawale, this is the victory of unity..."
Devendra Fadnavis' political journey has been noteworthy. Rising from modest beginnings to become a pivotal figure in Maharashtra politics, he is poised to reclaim the chief minister's position—a role he has held twice before. His career reflects resilience and strategic acumen, positioning him to lead Maharashtra once more after BJP's strong performance in recent elections.
Political Ascent
Fadnavis' rise began significantly before the 2014 assembly elections when he received substantial backing from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leader Amit Shah. Modi highlighted Fadnavis as "Nagpur's gift to the country" during a campaign rally, indicating his confidence in him.
His political career started as an obscure corporator before becoming Nagpur's youngest mayor. Over time, he solidified his reputation as a key leader within his party. Notably, Fadnavis is only the second Brahmin to serve as Maharashtra's Chief Minister after Shiv Sena's Manohar Joshi.
As Maharashtra anticipates its next leadership phase under Mahayuti's guidance, Fadnavis' potential return as chief minister marks a continuation of his influential role in state politics. The alliance aims to maintain unity while deciding on leadership roles post-election success.
