Navi Mumbai: Building Collapse Claims 3 Lives, 2 Injured

In a tragic incident, a four-storey residential building collapsed in Navi Mumbai's CBD Belapur area. The incident claimed three lives. Two persons, who were trapped under the debris and rescued by the officials, were severely injured in the incident.

A police official informed the media that the incident happened at around 4.50 am in Shahbaz village, CBD Belapur area, where 52 people reportedly were living collapsed. He said that the scale of the tragedy could have been bigger but maximum people were evacuated safely before the incident.

Building Collapses In Navi Mumbai

"The four-storey building with 13 residential units and three shops collapsed early this morning. A man and a woman who were trapped under the rubble were rescued and admitted to a hospital," Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner Kailas Shinde said.

The civic official said rescue teams, ambulances, and police reached the spot swiftly after being informed about the incident. A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and fire brigade officials rescued people and recovered 3 dead bodies from under the debris. Later, their dead bodies were sent for autopsy tests.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Miraj Altaf Hussain (30), Miraj Saif Ansari (24), and Safique Ahmed Rahmat Ali Ansari (28).

The municipal commissioner has ordered a probe. It was reported that the collapsed building was more than 10 years old and there were a lot of cracks in the building.
