Navi Mumbai Airport Gets Akasa Air Operations Starting December 25

Akasa Air will begin flight operations from the newly inaugurated Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) starting December 25, marking a significant expansion of its presence in western India. The airline's maiden service will connect Delhi and NMIA, followed by flights to Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad in the coming days.

The airline plans to progressively increase its operations from Navi Mumbai, targeting up to 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures over time. This strategic move is part of Akasa Air's broader network expansion, which also includes plans to establish 10 parking bases by the end of FY2027 and expand into key Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian markets.

"For Akasa Air, NMIA strengthens our strategic presence in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and western India, enabling us to optimise capacity deployment and tap into new demand segments," said Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air.

Phase one of the Navi Mumbai International Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 8. The airport has been developed at a cost of ₹19,650 crore and is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity in the region.
