Narayan Rane's Son Nilesh Rane Steps Down From Politics
Nilesh Rane, the son of former MP and Union minister Narayan Rane, made waves in the political landscape of Maharashtra by announcing his retirement from active politics on Tuesday.
In a statement shared on social media, Rane declared, "I am stepping away from active politics, driven by the simple fact that it no longer holds the same level of interest for me."

Nilesh Rane is the elder son of Narayan Rane, who has held the position of Maharashtra Chief Minister in the past and currently serves as the Union Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. His younger brother, Nitesh Rane, is currently a sitting member of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha, representing the Kankavli constituency.
Expressing gratitude for the affection and support he received from the public, Nilesh acknowledged the invaluable experience gained during his political journey, particularly during his association with the BJP. He noted, "I learned a lot in politics, and some colleagues have become like family to me; I will forever be indebted to them."
Nilesh Rane's political journey began in 2009 when he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency of Maharashtra as a Congress MP. However, in the subsequent general elections in 2014, he faced defeat at the hands of Shiv Sena's candidate Vinayak Raut.
In 2019, he contested from his father's own party, the Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha, only to suffer another electoral setback, again losing to Raut. Subsequently, the Rane family aligned with the BJP.
