Mumbai Weather Update: Rains Disrupt Local Trains and Traffic, Waterlogging Reported

Mumbai woke up to yet another rain-soaked morning on Monday as heavy downpours disrupted daily life across the city. Local train services on Central, Western, and Harbour lines experienced delays, while several roads were left waterlogged, causing slow-moving traffic and commuter inconvenience. With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an orange alert, Mumbaikars are bracing for more rainfall and related disruptions throughout the day.

Mumbai Weather Update Rains Disrupt Local Trains and Traffic Waterlogging Reported

Heavy overnight rainfall in Mumbai has led to disruptions in local train services, with delays reported across all major suburban lines.

According to railway officials:

Central Line (CSMT-Kalyan): Trains are running 15-20 minutes behind schedule due to possible waterlogging on the tracks.

Western Line (Virar-Churchgate): Fast trains are delayed by 5 minutes, while slow locals are lagging by up to 10 minutes.

Harbour Line (Panvel-CSMT and vice versa): Delays of 5-10 minutes have been reported.

Authorities have implemented reduced train speeds to ensure commuter safety and prevent derailments. No train cancellations have been reported yet, but services remain sluggish and unpredictable.

Commuters are strongly advised to check real-time train schedules via official railway apps and announcements before heading out, especially with the Monday morning rush underway.

Mumbai Roads Slow Down as Rains Cause Waterlogging and Low Visibility

Morning commute on Mumbai roads has slowed down considerably as heavy rainfall continues to impact vehicle movement across the city and surrounding areas like Thane and Navi Mumbai.

While the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has not reported any major traffic jams, several low-lying areas are facing water accumulation, contributing to slower traffic and visibility issues.

Motorists are navigating cautiously through:

Western Express Highway (WEH)

Eastern Express Highway (EEH)

Key junctions in Dadar, Sion, Andheri, and Kurla

Traffic police have urged drivers to avoid speeding and to follow traffic updates from official handles for diversions or congestion reports. No road closures have been announced yet, but more rainfall is expected throughout the day, keeping authorities on high alert.
