Mumbai Weather Today: Showers To Continue; Check Weather Forecast For June 21

Mumbai continues to face a mix of lightning and drizzling today as the monsoon season maintains its grip on the city. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy skies with the likelihood of moderate to heavy downpours in both the city and its suburbs.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will hover around 26 degrees Celsius, with high humidity levels around 75 to 86 per cent. There is a significant chance of precipitation, with an estimated rainfall of about 0.52 inches (13 mm)

According to the IMD's Santacruz observatory, the forecast for the next few days includes cloudy skies with moderate rain on June 22, 23, and 24. Lighter rain is expected on June 25 and 26.

June typically brings high temperatures to Mumbai, ranging between 28 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius. The month is characterised by frequent rainfall, averaging between 15 to 22 days of rain. This is typical of the city's tropical monsoon climate, which results in heavy precipitation during this time of year.

Districts On Orange Alert Today

An orange alert has been issued as a warning of extremely bad weather, which could cause disruptions in commuting, road and rail closures, and power supply interruptions.

The IMD has placed Amravati, Gadchiroli, and Yavatmal on orange alert due to expected heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning, accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kilometres per hour. These conditions are most likely to occur in isolated areas.

Districts On Yellow Alert Today

A yellow weather warning indicates bad weather spanning several days, suggesting potential disruptions in daily activities.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the following districts, which will experience heavy rainfall at isolated places: Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, and Satara. Additionally, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, and Washim will face thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds of 40-50 kilometres per hour at isolated places.
