Mumbai Traffic Alert: Nehru Planetarium Events And Sion Bridge Demolition To Cause Major Diversions

In view of the upcoming programme at Nehru Planetarium on July 30 and 31, the Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory to manage congestion in the Worli Traffic Division on X (Formerly Twitter). The event will see heavy footfall and the traffic arrangements are designed to mitigate disruptions.

Traffic Changes Effective from July 30, 2024, 10:00 AM to July 31, 2024, 8:00 PM

Mumbai Traffic Alert

1. Oneway Traffic:

Motilal Sanghi Road will be converted into a one-way street from Sanghi Path junction to Rajani Patel Junction (Lotus Junction) at Hinduja House.

2. Alternate Route:

Vehicles intending to visit Nehru Centre, NSCI, and Mariamma Nagar from Rajani Patel Junction (Lotus Junction) should continue northbound on Dr Annie Besant Road until Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Junction. At this point, they should make a U-turn to reach their destinations.

Motorists are advised to adhere to these temporary traffic regulations to avoid delays and ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the event.

Upcoming Traffic Advisory for Sion Railway Overbridge Demolition

In a separate development, the Central Railways will be demolishing the Sion railway overbridge (ROB), resulting in a two-year traffic diversion plan from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2026.

Traffic Diversions Due to Closure of the Sion Railway Overbridge

1. West-Bound Arm:

a. From Dr BA Road South-Bound Arm: Traffic will turn right at Sion Circle-Sion Hospital Junction and proceed via Sulochana Shetty Road to Kumbharwada Junction.
b. From Dr BA Road North-Bound Arm: Traffic will turn left at Sion Hospital Junction and proceed through Sulochana Shetty Road to Kumbharwada Junction.

2. East-Bound Arm:

a. Light Motor Vehicles: From Kurla via LBS Road and Sant Rohidas Road, traffic will turn right at Pehalwan Naresh Mane Chowk, proceeding via Sant Rohidas Road, Ashok Mill Naka, 90 Feet Road, Kumbharwada Junction, Sulochana Shetty Road to their destination.
b. Heavy Motor Vehicles: From Kurla, traffic will turn right before Pehalwan Naresh Mane Chowk, proceeding via Dharavi Depot Road, Sion Bandra Link Road, Mahim Sion Link Road, and Khemkar Chowk, continuing through 60 Feet Road, Sulochana Shetty Road, and Dharavi Railway Bridge Road.
c. Traffic from Western Express Highway and Kalanagar Junction: Traffic will turn right at Dharavi T Junction, then left at Khemkar Chowk, proceeding through 60 Feet Road, Kumbharwada Junction, and Kumbharwada Bridge.
