Mumbai Rains: Trains And Buses Back On Track After Brief Deluge Disruption
Mumbai's local trains and buses are operating as usual today despite the heavy rains causing disruptions the previous night.
On Wednesday, the city experienced over 200 mm of rainfall within five hours, leading to widespread waterlogging and traffic chaos.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a red alert for Mumbai and surrounding districts, warning of heavy rains.
Although the rains briefly disrupted key services, officials have confirmed that local trains are now running normally, with minor delays of 3-4 minutes on the Central Railway line due to rescheduled mail express services. Bus services, too, are back on track, despite waterlogged roads in certain areas.

The heavy downpour had a significant impact on the city, especially in low-lying areas such as Chembur Ghatla, where waterlogging caused widespread issues. According to authorities, Mumbai recorded over 200 mm of rainfall in various parts of the city, with Paspoli Powai Municipal School reporting the highest at 257.8 mm.
In response to the weather forecast, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced the closure of schools and colleges across Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The IMD has predicted a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain throughout Thursday, with Palghar and Nashik under a red alert and Thane, Raigad, and Pune on an orange alert.
Air traffic was also disrupted, with at least 14 flights being diverted due to the adverse weather conditions. Despite these challenges, the city has resumed normal operations today, though residents remain on alert for any further weather developments.
