Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s ‘Missing Link’ To Be Operational By Aug 2025: Check How Much Will You Save

Mumbaikars will soon experience a significant reduction in travel time between Mumbai and Pune, as the 'Missing Link' on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is expected to become operational by August 2025.

According to Pune Pulse, an official from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) confirmed that the project is nearly complete, with only the construction of the cable-stayed bridge pending.

Once completed, this 13-kilometre stretch, located in the expressway's ghat section, will shorten the current route by six kilometres. This development is expected to save commuters up to 30 minutes, providing a faster and smoother journey between the two cities.

The MSRDC stated, "The project is nearly finished, with only the cable-stayed bridge work left. That will be done by August, so by the end of August 2025, the missing link will be operational."

Currently, travellers between Mumbai and Pune often face congestion and longer journey times, particularly in the hilly terrain.

The new stretch aims to alleviate these issues by providing a direct and efficient route, ensuring greater convenience for daily commuters, businesses, and transport services.

Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway To Boost Connectivity In Uttar Pradesh

In another major infrastructure update, the upcoming Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway in Uttar Pradesh is set to enhance travel across the state. Spanning 700 kilometres, this six-lane expressway will pass through 22 districts and 37 tehsils, significantly improving connectivity between Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh.

Currently, people from Western UP rely on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to reach Eastern UP. Once the Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is completed, it is expected to reduce the travel time for the entire journey to just six hours, making long-distance travel faster and more efficient.

Both projects highlight the government's commitment to improving road infrastructure, ensuring safer and quicker transportation for millions of commuters.
