Mumbai Police Issue Advisory As IMD Predicts Intense Rain, Thunder, And Gusty Winds Next Few Hours
Mumbai Police issued an advisory on Sunday due to heavy rainfall in the city. "In view of the continuous and heavy rains in Mumbai, citizens are requested to avoid going to the coastal areas and move out of their houses only if necessary. Take precautions and dial 100 in case of emergency," the Mumbai Police stated in its advisory.
Intense to very intense spells of rain is very likely for the next three to four hours in isolated places in Thane, Mumbai, and Palghar districts, IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai forecasted on Sunday.

It added that there is also a possibility of thunder and lightning accompanied by gusty winds in some areas. "Take precautions while moving out," it said. The city is expected to experience week-long rainfall ahead, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Mumbai Weather Forecast
The IMD forecasts a week-long rainfall in the city, with temperatures expected to fall over the upcoming days. On July 22, 23, and 24, the city is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain.
The maximum temperature is expected to oscillate between 28 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature is likely to range between 23 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius. On July 25 and 26, Mumbai will continue to receive rain, with the maximum temperature remaining at 28 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 23 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai Flights Diverted
Continuous rainfall has caused waterlogging and disrupted traffic in several areas of the financial capital. Earlier today, a Vistara flight from Amritsar, Delhi and Chennai to Mumbai was rerouted to Ahmedabad due to adverse weather conditions at Mumbai airport.
Alert And Precautions
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Mumbai has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in the city, which will remain in effect until July 24. The forecasted temperatures are expected to range from a high of 29 degrees Celsius to a low of 25 degrees Celsius. Heavy rain battered parts of Mumbai on Saturday, resulting in significant waterlogging across the city. Several roads have been closed and traffic has been redirected due to the extensive flooding.
The monsoon covered the entire country six days ahead of its normal schedule. Delhi, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir received the monsoon spell in early July.
