Mumbai Police Ban Drones, Microlights, Paragliders For A Month; Check Effective Dates Inside
The Mumbai Police have issued a ban on the use of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, and hot air balloons for one month, according to a Times Now report. This step has been taken as a preventive measure to stop any possible sabotage or threat to public safety, officials said on Thursday.
The order has been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita. It will remain in effect from April 4 to May 5 across the Mumbai Police Commissionerate area.
According to the order, there is a risk that terrorists or anti-social elements could use flying devices to carry out attacks. These devices may be used to target VVIPs, harm the public, damage property, or create disturbances in the city. Therefore, certain restrictions are necessary to ensure law and order.
The police have stated that all flying activities using drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, and hot air balloons are banned within Mumbai's police limits during this period. These activities are only allowed for police use, such as aerial surveillance, or if special permission is granted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations).
The order clearly says that these measures are being taken to stop any possible incidents of sabotage and to protect public safety. Any person who does not follow the order will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. This law deals with disobeying a lawful order given by a public servant.
Police officials have requested all citizens to cooperate and follow the rules strictly. These steps have been taken to ensure peace and security in the city during the coming weeks.
