Mumbai Metro Line 3 Launches WhatsApp-Based Ticketing For Seamless Travel
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has introduced a WhatsApp-based ticketing system for commuters of Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, running between Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai and Aarey JVLR in the city's north-western region.
Under the new system, passengers can instantly generate QR tickets by sending "Hi" to +91 98730 16836 or by scanning the QR codes displayed at metro stations. The service allows commuters to create up to six QR tickets in a single transaction, supports multiple payment options, and eliminates the need for paper tickets, promoting sustainable travel. Payments via UPI will have no additional charges, while minimal fees apply for card transactions.

"This initiative is part of MMRC's commitment to providing seamless, efficient, and sustainable travel experiences for Mumbai residents," said MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide. The ticketing system is powered by PeLocal Fintech Pvt Ltd and does not require a separate application.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mumbai One mobile app, enabling integrated ticketing across metro, public buses, and suburban railways in the Mumbai metropolitan region. He also inaugurated the final phase of the 33.5-kilometre Metro Line 3. The WhatsApp ticketing service has already been implemented on Mumbai Metro Line 2A and Line 7, as well as on the Delhi Metro network.
