Mumbai Metro Line 12, also known as the Kalyan-Taloja Metro Corridor, is set to significantly improve connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This 22.17-kilometre elevated corridor will link Kalyan, a major suburban centre, with Taloja, a key industrial and residential area. The project, managed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), aims to provide faster, more efficient commutes while reducing congestion on roads and local trains.

Metro Line 12: Construction Progress

The MMRDA has begun constructing pillars for this ambitious project, marking a significant milestone. The corridor, expected to be operational by December 2027, is designed to integrate with Metro Line 5 (Orange Line) at Kalyan and Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 at Taloja, enabling seamless travel across the region.

Enhanced Commutes and Urban Growth

Once completed, Metro Line 12 will reduce travel time between Kalyan, Dombivli, and Taloja by approximately 45 minutes. This will benefit thousands of daily commuters, making public transport in Mumbai more efficient, accessible, and sustainable. The project is also expected to boost urban development and support regional economic growth.

The metro line will pass through key areas, including Kalyan APMC, Ganesh Nagar, Dombivli MIDC, Manpada, and Pisarve Depot, before terminating at Amandoot (Taloja).

With a construction contract worth Rs 2,037.20 crore awarded to a private firm, the project underscores its vital role in transforming Mumbai's transit landscape.

By December 2027, Mumbai Metro Line 12 is poised to become a cornerstone of the city's public transport network, offering residents a faster, more reliable commuting option.
