Mumbai Metro Green Line 10: Stations, Fare, Connectivity And How It Will Cut Travel Time By 75%

Mumbai Metro Line 10, an extension of Metro 4 (Wadala-Kasarvadavali-Gaimukh), will complete a crucial link in the suburban metro network. Known as part of the Green Line, this corridor will connect Gaimukh in Thane to Shivaji Chowk in Mira Road, covering approximately 9.2 km.

Route & Stations

The line will include the following stations:

• Gaimukh Reti Bundar
• Versova Chaar Phata
• Kashimira
• Shivaji Chowk (Mira Road)

Project Cost & Design

With an estimated cost of ₹4,476 crore, Metro 10 will feature a double-decker elevated structure above the road for a 4 km stretch between Gaimukh and Fountain Hotel, reaching a height of 20 meters due to narrow road space.

Construction Timeline

The project received approval in September 2019, with the foundation stone laid the same year. However, work is yet to begin because of pending environmental clearances. A consultant is being appointed for the process. Once started, construction is expected to take 36 months, targeting completion around 2027.

Connectivity & Operations

Metro 10 will integrate with Metro 4 & 4A at Gaimukh and connect to other public transport systems via the existing metro network. It will not require a separate depot, as operations will be managed from the Mogharpada depot, which will also serve Lines 4, 4A, and the future Line 11.

Impact on Commute

Although specific train sets, frequency, and fare details are yet to be finalised, Metro 10 is projected to cut travel time along this corridor by 50-75%. It will be a major relief for daily commuters between Mira Road, Thane, and Borivli, offering a viable alternative to the city's congested suburban train network.

Part of Mumbai's expanding metro plan - expected to exceed 523 km with 350 stations by 2027 - Metro 10 will play a key role in enhancing cross-city connectivity and easing passenger loads on existing transport systems.
