Mumbai Local Train Services Update: Pre-Monsoon Preparations In Full Swing To Tackle Water Logging
On Tuesday, a review meeting was held at the municipal headquarters to discuss preparations for the upcoming monsoon season in Mumbai, according to a Lokmat report. The meeting was led by Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani. Officials addressed concerns about water logging on railway tracks, which often leads to disruptions in both road and rail traffic during heavy rainfall.
Gagrani highlighted the importance of meticulous work to prevent traffic congestion caused by water accumulation in low-lying areas. He suggested that officials from both the municipal and railway administrations conduct joint inspection tours at various stations to ensure readiness for the monsoon.

The meeting focused on identifying areas where water logging has occurred in previous years and reviewing the actions taken to address these issues. Key locations discussed included Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Matunga Workshop, Chunabhatti, Wadala, Mithi River (Shiv-Kurla), Brahmanwadi Nala, Tilaknagar Nala, Vidyavihar Station, Karvenagar Nala (Kanjur Marg), Hariyali Nala, Santoshi Mata Nala, Marwadi Nala, Bhandup Station, Andheri, and Borivali in the Western Railway Division.
To ensure effective pre-monsoon preparations, Gagrani emphasised the need to complete the silt removal work from drains on time. Additional manpower and machinery should be deployed wherever necessary to facilitate this process, as stated by Abhijit Bangar, Additional Commissioner of the Municipality.
The collective efforts of the municipal and railway authorities are crucial in mitigating the impact of monsoon rains and ensuring a smooth transport experience for Mumbaikars. The timely execution of these preparations will play a significant role in reducing disruptions during the rainy season.
