Mumbai Local Train Services In Thane Suspended, Many Trains Diverted, Here's Why
Due to waterlogging at several places a day after heavy rainfall, Indian Railways suspended local train services in Maharashtra's Thane district on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Thousands of commuters daily travel from Thane to adjoining districts including Mumbai for work, and other purposes, who faced difficulties today due to suspension of local train services between Kasara and Titwala stations.
Waterlogging on tracks between Vashind and Khadavli stations on the Kalyan-Kasara route was reported, after which, the railways decided to suspend or divert all long route trains passing from this route. Allowing trains to run may risk thousands of lives, and the railway did not want to take any chance.

According to the reports Railway officials got information about waterlogging on the busy Kalyan-Kasara route around 6:30 am, and they immediately declared the route "unsafe" due to soil between Atgaon and Thansit stations owing to heavy rainfall.
Along with this, a tree also fell and blocked the tracks near Vashind station.
"Train services between Kasara and Titwala have been suspended temporarily," a spokesperson of the Central Railway (CR) said in a statement, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, another Central Railway spokesperson said an overhead equipment (OHE) pole tilted, and the pantograph of a train got entangled near Vashind.
