Mumbai Local Train Mega Block Scheduled For August 3: Key Information For Commuters

A significant disruption in Mumbai's local train services is scheduled for August 3. The Central, Western, and Harbour lines will undergo a mega block, affecting numerous commuters. Authorities have advised passengers to check the updated schedules and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

According to Central Railway's announcement on X, a major block will occur on the Up and Down fast lines between Matunga and Mulund from 11:05 am to 3:45 pm. During this time, Down fast trains leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10:36 am and 3:10 pm will be diverted onto the Down slow line at Matunga. These trains will stop at their usual stations before rejoining the Down fast line at Mulund, resulting in an expected delay of about 15 minutes.

Similarly, Up fast line trains departing from Thane between 11:03 am and 3:38 pm will be rerouted to the Up slow line at Mulund. They will halt at scheduled stations between Mulund and Matunga before being redirected back to the Up fast line at Matunga. Passengers should anticipate a delay of approximately 15 minutes for these services as well.

On the Harbour line, there will be a block on both Up and Down lines between Kurla and Vashi stations from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm. Consequently, Down Harbour line trains from CSMT to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel will be cancelled from 10:34 am to 3:36 pm. Similarly, Up Harbour line services from Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi to CSMT will not operate between 10:16 am and 3:47 pm.

Alternative Travel Arrangements

To facilitate travel during this period, special suburban trains will run between CSMT and Kurla, as well as between Panvel and Vashi. Additionally, Harbour line passengers can travel via Thane to reach Vashi and Nerul between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm as an alternative arrangement.

Meanwhile, Western Railway has announced a jumbo block on the Up and Down fast lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central from 10:35 am to 3:35 pm on Sunday. During this time frame, all fast line trains will operate on slow lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central. As a result of this block, several Up and Down suburban trains will remain cancelled.

Impact on Western Railway Services

Some Churchgate train services will be short-terminated or reversed from Bandra or Dadar due to the block. Commuters are encouraged to check with Station Masters' offices for a complete list of affected services. Railway authorities have requested cooperation from passengers while expressing regret for any inconvenience caused by these changes.
