Mumbai Hit-And-Run Case: Opposition Leader Questions Alcohol Detection Timeline In Mihir Shah's Blood

Vijay Wadettiwar, Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, has raised concerns over the handling of the Mumbai hit-and-run case, accusing the Shiv Sena of protecting the accused. Wadettiwar questioned the feasibility of detecting alcohol consumption in Mihir Shah's blood after three days, emphasizing issues of law enforcement and governance in Mumbai.

He says, "The govt and the police have tried to hush up the issue. He (prime accused Mihir Shah) was not intentionally arrested as he was drunk and it would have come into a blood sample, I'll say that the police had hidden him. When they tested him twice and alcohol wasn't found in the blood sample, then only he was produced before the police. I demand a high-level inquiry into this matter." He plans to address these concerns during the Maharashtra Assembly session.

Mumbai Hit-And-Run Case

The prime accused, Shah, 24, was apprehended on Tuesday following the incident that claimed the life of Kaveri Nakhwa. Shah, allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time, faces accusations of fatally colliding with Nakhwa while she rode pillion on her husband's scooter.

The tragic incident unfolded early Sunday morning in Worli when Shah's BMW collided with the scooter carrying Kaveri and her husband Pradeep Nakhwa. Despite efforts to save her, Kaveri succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital. Pradeep recounted the events, alleging Shah's deliberate actions worsened his wife's condition.

Mihir Shah's Arrest

The arrest followed days of pursuit by Mumbai Police, culminating in Shah's capture from an apartment in Virar. His mother and sister, also implicated in the case, were subsequently taken into custody.

Rajesh Shah, a senior Shiv Sena figure and Shah's father, was briefly detained but released on bail for alleged non-cooperation with authorities.

How Mumbai Police Captured Mihir Shah?

Shah's capture was facilitated when a friend briefly activated his mobile phone, allowing police to pinpoint their location in Virar. Prior to his arrest, Shah had attempted to evade authorities by seeking refuge in various locations around Mumbai.

Details emerging from the investigation indicate Shah's movements after an early morning outing in Juhu, where he reportedly consumed alcohol before driving towards South Mumbai. The fatal collision occurred as he approached Worli, prompting his subsequent flight from the scene.
