Mumbai-Delhi Expressway Update: Jaipur-Bandikui Stretch Delayed, New Deadline Set

The 67-kilometre Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway, which is being built to connect the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Jaipur, will now take longer to complete than initially expected, according to Patrika News. The road construction company had initially agreed with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to complete the expressway by the second week of November. However, despite earlier claims by NHAI officials that the expressway would be ready by December, the new expected completion date has been moved to February 2025.

Work on the expressway began in November 2022, with the aim of completing it by November this year. However, delays in crucial construction tasks have caused setbacks. Specifically, the cloverleaf work at Bagrana and the delay in building a Road Over Bridge (ROB) on the railway line at Kolwa village near Bandikui have hindered the timely progress of the project.

Once completed, the Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway will significantly reduce travel time and distance between Jaipur and Delhi. The distance between the two cities will be shortened by approximately 20 kilometres. The expressway will allow car drivers to reach Gurugram and Delhi in around three to three and a half hours. Currently, drivers must take a longer route via Dausa to reach Delhi from Jaipur via the expressway.

This expressway, which will start from Bagrana on Agra Road in Jaipur and connect to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Bandikui, was announced following the inauguration of the Sohna-Dausa section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. However, due to a late allocation of the site in Bagrana, the construction is now expected to take an additional two months, pushing the completion date to February 2025.
