Mumbai-Delhi Expressway Tunnel Collapse: Landslide Claims Life Of Worker; Three Others Injured

A tragic accident occurred at midnight on Saturday in the tunnel under construction for the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Mukundra, Kota district, according to Network 18 report. During the ongoing work, four workers were buried under debris that fell from the upper part of the tunnel. One worker tragically died, while three others sustained injuries.

The incident is believed to have been caused by a landslide, though investigations are still ongoing. At the time of the accident, the workers were busy at the site when debris began falling suddenly from above. The debris fell so rapidly that it trapped the workers underneath, creating a chaotic scene. The workers, in panic, tried to help their colleagues. Despite efforts to clear the debris, one worker was declared dead at Modak Community Health Centre (CHC), where the injured were taken for treatment.

The NHI officials and the police arrived shortly after the accident and began the rescue operation. Their quick response helped ensure the injured received the necessary care.

The cause of the landslide has not yet been fully confirmed, but the NHI has initiated an investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the accident. The body of the deceased worker remains at Modak Hospital's mortuary, awaiting post-mortem, which will be conducted once his family arrives.

This tragic incident has left workers at the site shaken, with many expressing fear over the safety conditions at the tunnel construction site. Authorities are working to address the situation and prevent further incidents.
