Mumbai Crime: BJP MLA Shoots Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena Leader Inside Police Station
Mumbai Crime: A ShivSena leader was shot by a BJP MLA inside a police station near Mumbai on Friday. According to the reports, victim Mahesh Gaikwad is associated with Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde's ShivSena, and accused BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad represents the Kalyan East constituency. The reports suggested that both the politicians were engaged in a land dispute, which led to the heinous crime.
The accused BJP leader has been arrested and an investigation is underway, a senior police official told media. Media reports added that two other people also got injured in gunfire.

Shedding light on the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Pathare said that two sides came to Ulhasnagar's Hill Line police station to report each other as they were engaged in a land dispute, but the BJP lawmaker opened fire after a heated conversation.
Police immediately held the accused and took the injured to hospital, where doctors took out five bullets from two victims' bodies. However, the Shiv Sena leader's condition is still critical.
"Mahesh Gaikwad and Ganpat Gaikwad had some dispute. They had come to Hill Line police station to lodge a complaint, but Ganpat Gaikward opened fire at Mahesh Gaikwad and his associates during the talks. Two people were injured," DCP Sudhakar Pathare said.
As the matter case became a news headline, the Opposition was quick to attack the BJP-ShivSena alliance over the deteriorating law and order situation.
ShivSena Uddhav Thackray group spokesperson Anand Dubey said, "A BJP MLA opened fire inside the police station and the person who was shot is close to the Chief Minister and a former corporator. Both their parties are in power, so should we understand that these people have no fear of the law? Both engines of the state government have failed."
