Mumbai: Coach derails, rail traffic hit on Western Line
Mumbai, May 31: Services were hit on the Western line of the Mumbai train after an empty coach derailed off a slow track running between Lower Parel and Elphinstone railway stations.
The incident occured at 2.15 am on Tuesday. Officials sprung into action to clear the railway line and said that it would take close to three hours to clear the track and restore services.

An empty coach of the train derailed on the tracks. No injuries were reported from site. Slow trains were diverted to fast track from Mumbai Central to Dadar.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Western Railway said, "The incident happened at 2.15 am while carrying out shunting operation.
The coach was pulled into the Lower Parel workshop when it derailed. The OHE too was damaged, thus affecting services on Up and Down lines."
The Mumbai rail network is known to be the lifeline of the city with thousands of office goers depending on it for daily commute.
