Mumbai-Ahmedabad Train Service: Western Railway Launches Special Festive Train

In a bid to accommodate the growing travel demand and enhance passenger convenience, Western Railway (WR) has announced a special train service between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. This Festival Special Train is set to operate at a special fare, as revealed in a WR statement on Tuesday.

The special service will run in two directions:

1. Train 09053: This train will depart from Bandra Terminus at 9:30 PM on Wednesday, August 14, and is scheduled to arrive in Ahmedabad at 5:30 AM on Thursday, August 15, which is also Independence Day.

2. Train 09054: The return journey will start from Ahmedabad at 8:45 AM on Thursday, August 15, and is expected to reach Bandra Terminus at 5:15 PM the same day.

Both trains will make stops at major stations including Nadiad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad, Vapi, Palghar, and Borivali, ensuring that passengers have convenient access along the route. The train will feature third-class AC coaches, sleeper coaches, and general-class coaches to cater to different passenger preferences.

Bookings for Train 09054 will open on August 14, while reservations for Train 09053 will begin on August 13 at 4:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and through the IRCTC website.

This special train service is introduced to provide additional travel options during the festive season, aiming to ensure a more comfortable and efficient journey for passengers.

Apart from this, Central Railway (CR) has proposed the introduction of two new routes for additional tracks between Mumbai and Pune. If implemented, these new routes could cut travel time by 30 minutes and allow for the operation of up to ten more trains. A feasibility report is currently being prepared to assess the best alignment based on cost and terrain. The proposed new alignment would bypass the steep ghats and other challenging sections of the existing route, potentially enhancing travel efficiency between the two cities.
