Maulana arrested on terror charges, acquitted by Bombay HC
The Bombay High Court has acquitted a a Maulana who was arrested on the charge that he had links with the Lashkar-e-Tayiba. Maulana Yahya Illahi was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) in 2006.

The state of Maharashtra had come in appeal against the acquittal of the Maulana by a lower court. The Bench said that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the accused.
The Maulana who was terminated as cleric after his arrest was undertaking odd jobs to sustain himself. A resident of Kurla, he said that the verdict came as a big relief. It is an Eid gift to me, he also added.
The Maulana would now move the court seeking compensation from the police for falsely implicating him.
