Massive Fire Breaks Out At ED Office In South Mumbai, No Casualties Reported

Around 2:30 in the morning on April 27, a large fire started at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office building in the Ballard neighborhood of south Mumbai. The multistory Kaiser-I-Hind building, which houses the ED office close to the Grand Hotel on Currimbhoy Road, is where the fire began. Firefighting crews were sent to the scene as soon as the fire department received an alert. Although no casualties have been reported thus far, a total of twelve fire tenders were dispatched to contain the fire.

By 3:30 am, the fire was classified as a Level-II incident, marking it as a significant emergency. Smoke could be seen billowing out from the building, and fire crews worked diligently to prevent the spread of the blaze. According to officials, the fire was confined to the fourth floor of the five-storey building. In response to the emergency, eight fire engines, six jumbo tankers, a breathing apparatus van, an aerial water tower, a rescue van, a quick response vehicle, and an ambulance were all deployed to the scene.

Although the firefighting operations were underway, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing. The Mumbai Fire Department has assured that they are working to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported as of now. The timely and efficient response from the fire brigade has helped contain the blaze to a specific area of the building. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as the investigation into the cause of the fire proceeds.
