Police said the accused, Girish Kote, killed his wife with a knife and then chopped her body into three pieces. He reportedly kept two pieces in the refrigerator while the third was hidden in the bedroom of their apartment in Bhayandar (East) on the outskirts of the city.

Kote was being interrogated on the motive behind the act, the police said.
