Malad Railway Station Passenger Alert: Know How The New Platform Changes Will Affect Your Commute

Malad Railway Station, which serves around half a million passengers daily, is undergoing significant changes that will affect how commuters board and alight from trains, according to Lokmat.

The station has recently changed its boarding arrangements, moving trains towards Virar to platform number 1. This means passengers must now board and alight from the right side of the train instead of the left, creating some confusion and inconvenience.

In response to these challenges, Western Railway has announced plans to construct a new temporary steel platform at Malad Station. This platform will allow passengers travelling towards Virar to alight from both sides of the train, improving access and comfort.

The need for these changes arises from ongoing work to install a sixth line between Goregaon and Kandivali stations, which has resulted in the creation of a new island embankment. As a result of this construction, boarding and alighting platforms at Malad have been altered, causing difficulties for many passengers.

To mitigate these issues, Western Railway has outlined several initiatives:

1. Temporary Steel Platform: Approval has been granted for the construction of a temporary platform, which is expected to be completed in the next two to three months.

2. Improved Access: The new platform will enable passengers to alight from both sides of the train, reducing crowding and facilitating easier movement.

3. Reduced Crowding: With the implementation of the new plan, trains will stop at a distance from the current platform area, helping to prevent overcrowding and making it easier for passengers to access the foot-over bridge and other facilities.

4. Schedule Changes: Some adjustments will be made to train schedules to further alleviate congestion at the station. An official from Western Railway stated that these measures aim to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers.

Passengers are encouraged to stay informed about these changes and to plan their journeys accordingly as Western Railway continues to work on improving the facilities at Malad Station.
