The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy skies and heavy rain, offering much-needed relief from the heat but causing challenges on the ground.
Today, Mumbai will enjoy a cool minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius, with heavy rain expected throughout the day.

Five-Day Weather Outlook
Here's the weather outlook for the next five days in Mumbai:
July 17: Expect a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius, with moderate rain and cloudy skies.
July 18: Similar conditions will persist, with a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius, accompanied by heavy rain and cloudy skies.
July 19: Temperatures will cool slightly, with a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius. Anticipate cloudy skies and heavy rain throughout the day.
July 20: The minimum temperature will remain at 24 degrees Celsius, while the maximum will rise slightly to 28 degrees Celsius. Rainfall is expected to continue.
July 21: Conditions will remain steady with a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius. Rain showers are forecasted to persist.

Red Alert
Raigad: Expect heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. Yesterday, the region was under an orange alert.
Orange Alerts
Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg: Anticipate heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places.
Pune: Extremely heavy rainfall is possible at isolated places in ghat areas, with moderate rain expected in the plains.
Kolhapur and Satara: Prepare for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas, while light to moderate rain is likely in the plains.
Yellow Alerts
Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds (40 to 50 kilometres per hour) are expected at isolated places.
Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, with light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds (30 to 40 kilometres per hour) likely at isolated places.
Akola, Buldhana, Washim: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are most likely to occur at isolated places.
Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected at isolated places.
Maharashtra Monsoon Update
The IMD predicts that there is a possibility of more than average rainfall in most parts of Maharashtra. The 'El Nino' condition may remain neutral in the initial phase. But in the second phase of monsoon i.e. in July or August, 'La Nina' condition is likely to occur. The Meteorological Department has clarified that the La Nina conditions are favourable for this year's monsoon in the country.
